THEY are young, talented and have the world at their feet, so it should come as little surprise to anyone that Rap mastermind Drake and ‘Thinking Of You’ sensation Frank Ocean have made ‘Forbes 30 Under 30‘ list this year.
Celebrated for accomplishments achieved both on and off the stage, the pair are joined by Pop mannequin Rihanna, who was honored on behalf of the Def Jam music group and Roc Nation.
Forbes explain:
“The young disruptors, innovators and entrepreneurs on our annual listing of the 30 under 30 are impatient to change the world. In each of 15 categories, ranging from energy to Hollywood, Forbes editors and reporters worked with panels of expert judges to chose the field’s brightest stars under the age of 30. In sum they represent the entrepreneurial, creative and intellectual best of their generation. Individually, they are engaging, surprising and incredibly hardworking.”
On Drake:
“The former Degrassi star earned $20 million last year, buoyed by live shows, a new album and endorsements with the likes of Sprite and Kodak.”
On Ocean:
“Buoyed by the success of hip-hop collective Odd Future, Ocean has established himself as a solo act, earning six Grammy nominations this year, tied for the most of any artist.”
Then on Def Jam’s Rihanna:
“The Barbados-born diva has parlayed pop hits into endorsements with Vita Coco and Nivea, fragrance Reb’l Fleur and sold-out shows around the world.”
The Center for Science in the Public Interest is urging Beyonce to drop her $50 million deal with Pepsi because soft drinks contribute to obesity and other health problems in children and adults.
An open letter from the director of the CSPI reads in part,
Beyonce you have a unique position in the cultural life of this country and are an inspiring role model for millions of young people.
Your image is one of success, health, talent, fitness, and glamour. But by lending your name and image to PepsiCo, you are associating those positive attributes with a product that is quite literally sickening Americans.
I imagine that it must be hard for anyone to turn away $50 million. But this endorsement deal strikes me as particularly inappropriate, considering your popularity with America’s young people and the extent to which Pepsi and other sugary drinks promote disease.
The New York Times attributed to you a statement that this endorsement agreement allows you “to work with a lifestyle brand with no compromise and without sacrificing [your] creativy.” It seems to me that this deal is actually an enormous comprise. In fact, I would characterize this as an even bigger compromise than your accepting $2 million to perform at the 2009 New Year’s Eve bash thrown by Hannibal Gaddafi, the famously violent son of the now-deceased Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi.
You realized that that arrangement was in error and wisely donated those proceeds to charity, I respectfully urge you to reconsider your arrangement with PepsiCo. If you move ahead with your promotional activities, you may wish to consider donating your proceeds to a hospital, diabetes organization or another reputable charity involved in the prevention or treatment of soda-related diseases.
Frank Ocean, who largely keeps silent about personal issues on social media, blasted his father on Twitter after finding out about the lawsuit. Ocean tweeted, “father wanna sue me for a million. like i owe him back child support. weak individual bought me a swiss knife at 6yrs old then dipped on me.” The tweet has since been taken off of Frank Ocean’s timeline. We have to wonder what brought on the lawsuit. This isn’t the first time Ocean has said something about his father. On a track lifted from nostalgia, ULTRA called “There Will Be Tears,” the New Orleans native sang, “My grandaddy was a player/Pretty boy in a pair of gators/See I met him later on/Think it was 1991/The only dad I’d ever know/But pretty soon he’d be gone too/Hide my face hide my face.”
Although we know Ocean is being sued for a million dollars by his father, we haven’t found out on what grounds the lawsuit is building itself upon.According to UrbanDaily– Hiphopnews24-7.com will keep you updated!

MISS UNIVERSE 2011 FROM ANGOLA CROWNING THE MISS UNIVERSE 2012 FROM USA
TOP 5....ON THE MISS UNIVERSE 2012
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A 20-year-old beauty queen from Rhode Island was crowned the new Miss Universe on Wednesday, beating out 88 other women during a televised competition at the Planet Hollywood casino on the Las Vegas Strip.
Olivia Culpo took the crown from Leila Lopes of Angola after strutting in a purple and blue bikini and a red velvet gown.
In the final stages of the competition, she answered a question about her regrets by saying she wished she hadn't picked on her siblings.
Miss Philippines, Janine Tugonon, came in second, while Miss Venezuela, Irene Sofia Esser Quintero, placed third.
Contestants from 89 countries on six continents spent the past two weeks in Sin City, where they posed in hardhats at a hotel groundbreaking, took a painting lesson, and pranked hotel guests by hiding in their rooms.
The beauty queens took the stage in tight, pleated mini-dresses with glittering sequin bodices and sky high platform shoes, strutting to the hit "Live While We're Young," by English-Irish boy band One Direction.
