JAY-Z: Big Pimpin’ Could Mean Losing Some Big Money
Jay-Z is close to being sued by the nephew of Egyptian composer Baligh Hamdy over his use of a sample in his 2000 song “Big Pimpin’.”According to Rolling Stone, the song was licensed to Hova, but Hamdy’s family claims that that he “mutilated” it, which according to Egyptian copyright law, required further permission.
The Egyptian singer’s nephew, Osama Ahmed Fahmy, is looking for a cut of Jay-Z’s revenue for the song, as well as some of his concert earnings.
